In 2011, I decided to visit the winners of the 2010 NZ Community of the Year Award. Let’s see if there is something we could learn for our school community! My colleague I an met several highly committed, passionate people (Wendy, the Deputy Principal and Kindra, the Centre Manager). I remember as we continued to reflect on our visit on the plane home, tears came to my eyes. “ I really want one of these at West Harbour School. We need it!” Victory Village has been the inspiration for us. We started back in 2008, dreaming and planning with our stakeholders. 19 June 2015 we officially opened West Harbour Community Hub.
A dream has finally come true. We now have our place!
